Welcome to Meridian!
Centrally located in the Treasure Valley and recognizable by its distinctive yellow water tower, Meridian offers excellent schools, affordable housing, and many recreational opportunities - all within a short distance of Boise, Idaho’s capital city. Originally a farming community, Meridian has grown into a city of it own with a wealth of resources for its residents.
Meridian is a fast growing community with over 50,000 people. Located at an elevation of 2606 feet above sea level, the city is in a “high desert” area so the average annual precipitation is 11.7 inches. The average winter temperature is 33 degrees and in the summer, the average temperature is 82 degrees.
Some of the activities in the city of Meridian include Dairy Days in June, the Meridian Fire Department Salmon BBQ in August and the Scarecrow and Harvest Festival in October. Each Saturday night during the summer, Meridian Raceway has oval track car racing. The Meridian Symphony has performances throughout the year. Each Saturday from May through September, a Farmer’s Market is held in downtown Meridian. Fresh produce, flowers and other items are available to purchase.
The Meridian School District is a large district encompassing all of Meridian and the cities of Eagle and Star. The District has been growing and is adding new school facilities each year. Rocky Mountain High School, the district’s fifth high school will be opening in the fall of 2008.
Meridian continues to be one of the most family-friendly communities in Idaho.
