Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several first time home buyers in their search for their first home. It wasn’t always easy – credit issues, losing out to other buyers, playing the waiting game on a short sale. But when the sale comes together and closes, there is no better feeling for a Realtor.
One buyer I worked with overcome credit issues to buy her first home. The process took almost a year of working on her credit and then finding that perfect home, making the offer and finally moving in. She qualified for the tax credit offered by the Federal Government and will use that to pay off more debt and fix up her new home. The smile on her face and the excitement in her voice when I congratulated her on her new home made that year-long process very satisfying.
Another first time buyer had worked with two Realtors prior to calling me. They were frustrated because they didn’t seem to be able to purchase a home even though they had good credit and a good income. We must have looked at 50-60 houses over the 3-4 months that we worked together. Eventually, we found the perfect home for their family and found a loan program that allowed them to finance 100% of the cost of their home. Now they have the tax credit to make their new home their own.
Working with first time home buyers takes patience and perseverance but the rewards that come out of helping them realize one of their life dreams makes it all worthwhile.
Love those first time home buyers!
